Abstract

There is a huge variety among the causes of conflict in the work environment, which depend largely on the specifics of professional activity, workplace relationships, etc. This article aims to present some of the most common causes of workplace conflict in public health inspectors. The survey was conducted in the regional health inspectorates of Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora, Kardzhali, Smolyan and Burgas. The anonymous survey was completed by 204 public health inspectors. The leading causes of conflict were "dissatisfaction with pay", misallocation of responsibilities, employee turnover, and "lack of clear and open relationships within the team". Stress was the most reported cause of conflict in the workplace (79.9%). Conflicts can have extremely negative consequences. It is necessary to take adequate measures aimed at resolving them quickly in order to maintain a positive working environment as much as possible.
